From humble beginnings, your Frankford Huskies have come a long way.

In the 2021-22 season, the Junior C club finished 57th of 58 teams in the PJHL, with just one win and four points.

The two high points in the season were the first playoff game win and bringing junior hockey back to Frankford.

To the 2022-23 year, where the club saw a great improvement.  We added 29 points to our regular season numbers, going 15-24-3 (33 points).  Last year included our first home win, a multi-game winning streak and the PJHL leading goal scorer in Jacob Tinney (38).

The 22-23 season also ended with some hardware. Pat Shearer and his coaching staff were named Tod Division Coaching Staff of the Year.  Jacob Tinney would be handed the Tod Division MVP trophy.

The team improved by a staggering 14 wins, but with a first round playoff loss, it still left room for improvement.

The 2023-24 season saw a year where Frankford ran four lines and beat every team in the league multiple times.  It would mean winning the Tod Division Regular Season Title

“We knew it was going to take time,” says Head Coach Pat Shearer.  “We thought it would be five years to get to a division title, but this year everything fell into place.”

Shearer continued, “This was our beat recruiting off-season.  We were able to meet with a number of players and their families and that made a huge difference. Joey Coates, Keenan Wiles, Gage Butcher, Ty McCambridge. “

“It was not just having high end talent that made the difference ,” Shearer added.”  We traded for a champion and a top end goaltender in Sam Dingle.  There were also great returning players, like Dylan Foster, Carter Musclow, and Karsten Leonard.  They, along with others, provide a ton of leadership.”

“Although all of these things spell a much better season, I still think it is not the biggest key for us,” says the bench boss. “I believe the 2023-24 Frankford Huskies greatest strength is how close we are.  The guys work hard, practice hard, hang out together, show up to the rink early, and get excited when one another succeeds.  We have also been able to erase multiple goal leads, several times during the year, including our OT thriller at home just a few weeks ago.  This is going to be key heading into the post-season.”

“Our goaltending has also been a big key.  We have already praised Sam Dingle and deservedly so, but Dean Spry has also been unreal.  His composure, maturity, and character are impactful.  If he allows a goal, he forgets about it and moves on.  Dean and Sam give us a chance to win every night.”

The coach says, “At the start of the season, we wanted to win a regular season title, however no player will be satisfied with that.  The playoffs are different.  We have to practice even harder, focus more, count on each other, and never give up.  We will have to continue to find ways to be successful. We are focused on a Schmalz Cup and nothing else.”

Frankford will receive a first round bye, moving onto the Tod Division final round in round two.
